Finally
the car has been rolling-roaded and the carburettors properly adjusted. The
car now runs on 4 cylinders all the time, but suffers from flooding
problems. Testing on the Friday went well, setting times around 60 secs (around
3 secs off the fastest time of the day and 6 secs faster than last years time in
the Formula Renault). The engine now runs well enough to set
the suspension up, so I found I was getting a lot of understeer through slow and
medium speed corners.

Qualifying
1 went well, setting a time of 59 secs, 3.5 secs off pole, enough for 7th on the
grid.
|
Race 1 was without drama, finishing in 6th place after a good
start made 2 places. I lost one place back to Dave Dudley who was
going very well.

|
Qualifying
2 was a slight improvement in time from the previous day, but I dropped to 8th on
the grid. The understeer was more marked as I pushed the car harder.
|
Race 2 went
very well, gaining 4 places at the start to finish just off the podium in 4th
place and get some badly needed points. Jim Blockley won both races.
