Spa-Francorchamps
10th - 13th July 2003
|
This
was my first visit to Spa and also my first rolling start race. This was a superb
circuit, but very long and therefore difficult to learn in only two 30 minute
qualifying sessions. Many corners require a
high level of driver commitment for a good laptime.

Qualifying
I
qualified
16th from 42 in the 1st session, which I was pleased with.
I
missed the 2nd qualifying session due to a major vibration so
serious
that it fractured the front wing supports and made the car undriveable,
especially with a wing under the front wheels...

Race
I got
a poor start due to being unfamiliar with the startline procedure
and fell back from Phil Moore. I then caught and passed quite a few
cars, finishing 8th overall, despite losing a few places with a
140mph spin whilst taking the famous Eau Rouge
flat on lap 5. Phil Moore had a grandstand view of this, but
unfortunately his video ran out |
